Love and Intrigue
The art of fishing requires many things of the angler. Presentation coupled with some patience and tenacity are the most important. The fish will bite on something that looks like food presented how their cafeteria entrées normally arrive; or, they are presented with some captivating object infringing on their space. In either case, the attraction quality must possess some right presentation and some portion of love and intrigue if you are to be successful.
I normally fish the waters in the west with a 10 ft, 5 weight, Fly Rod. When my hand grips the handle, this becomes my favorite “warrior” on the water casting both love and intrigue to the fish around me. This warrior gives me great generosity for casting long distances, uninhibited by the winds I’m able to make great presentations to the fish around me with the goal of catching them all. Matthew Kelly writes in Rediscover Jesus:” God wants generosity to reach into every area of our lives; so that through us by our presentation, He can share His love and intrigue to the people around us.” At the end of the day, the goal is that all people will know Jesus!
A fly rod is nothing without a master angler to maneuver it. Remaining only a “thing of great potential” until someone who understands its qualities and perfections can give it life. A man is nothing without God working thru him and using his time, talents and treasures to present God’s love to others. Allow Him to get his grip on you and you will become a perfect warrior, a perfect cast, a perfect presentation of love and intrigue. That all may know him, Philippians 3:10. Ain’t it so!
